The Virginia Creeper Trail to be exact. We lacked seven miles to complete walking the entire lower trail, and we decided to knock it out in one day. Every other time, we've done a "there and back again" hike, but today we took two cars. We parked one at Alvarado, and took the other to Damascus. Then we walked the entire trail back to Alvarado. It was by far the least impressive section of the trail so far - we spent a long time parallelling the road, and there were no benches or rocks along the way for sitting and resting and pontificating. I guess if we had to pick one section to through-hike and not see all the sites twice, this was the one.
But we had a great time. The boys were in good spirits and didn't have to be nagged to keep up. We finished in two and a half hours exactly, with one break. We followed it up with a late lunch at Cracker Barrel. Good times. Thanks for the day off to spend with the fam, MLK.
