Where in DC?
In the spirit of Kyle's Where in SC? series, I give you Where in DC? These are all pics taken on our vacation to our nation's capital last summer. Can you tell where exactly we are?
1. Lincoln Memorial. Not far from where Mark Wahlberg discovered this is a monkey planet in Planet of the Apes. 2. One of the bronzes at the FDR Memorial. 3. Totem Pole at the Smithsonian's Natural History Musem. (Maybe American History... Uh oh.) 4. The newly constructed wall/seat surrounding the Washington Monument. 5. I'm not sure. I'll guess the American History Museum.
Gosh. I'm ashamed! If I would've looked closer I would've seen the Tidal Pool in the background of the Jefferson Memorial. The White House is back there too. Man! What a rookie mistake. Kyle Angry! Grrr.
You got me on #5. I've never seen it. I hope it's not in the Lincoln Memorial.
It's not the Cathedral. Having not been there myself, I can't say for sure that they don't have a large bust of Honest Abe on the premises. Therefore, I will not challenge your Chuck Norris-esque "If that's not the answer, it should be" response any further.
I think #5 is in the Capital Building. The boys are wearing timed entry tags. (At least that's what it looks like.) The only places requiring timed entry we saw were the White House and the Capital, but they weren't offering tours while we were there.
Nicely done, Squid Vicious! Excellent use of context clues!
This is in the basement of the Capital. It's one of three rooms you can see on the standard Capital tour these days. Not at all worth the wait in line. You didn't miss anything.
She is currently high-fiving herself and singing We Are The Champions at the top of her lungs. I too was impressed by her detective work. I noticed Abe was looking drowsy, so I thought maybe it was the National Liquor Store entrance. That was fun! Do it again!

Yep - you fell for one of the classic blunders. (The first one is never get involved in a land war in Asia.)
We are in fact standing at entrance to the Jefferson Memorial, not its much-ballyhooed Lincoln counterpart.
Any takers on #5?
I'm guessing the Washington Cathedral for #5. If that's not the answer, it should be.
Everyone should see the Washington Cathedral. It's beautiful.

Keep playing...

Thanks for the heads-up on the Capital tour. We were actually thinking of squeezing it in on our next D.C. trip. Now we can go see better stuff.
