A Portent of Posts to Come

Today is Scout Expo Day in the Tri-Cities. Which means, we all drive to the fair grounds and sleep on the ground.

Well, more specifically, we "camp-out". Mark is leaving first thing tomorrow morning for his annual "Managers Gone Wild" golf trip to Santee, which leaves me as the available parent. Ben is now a Boy Scout, and he does not have to have a parent with him. But Cub Scouts need a parent with them, and Daniel is a Cub Scout. And so I'm going to sleep on the ground.

I think it might be fun actually. I have had three camping experiences in my life. The first: way too cold. The second: way too rainy. And the third: no real problems. Jennifer and Heather and me. Heather stepped into mud up to her thigh at one point, but that's all I really remember. And we "camped" last summer at Camp Davy Crockett, but that was in ready-made tents with cots and cicadas. LOTS of cicadas.

So stay tuned....pictures and debriefings will likely follow in the days to come.

oh man, i remember those trips. "way too cold" may be the understatement of the year. didn't we girls end up in a car at, like, 3 am? didn't the boys have stupid advice like less clothing = more warm air circulating in the sleeping bag? didn't we wish for frostbite or worse on those boys?

or were you thinking of the time with steph when it started out nice enough, but the further up the mountain we hiked, the more it snowed. weren't there some quotable quotes from that trip? something about a candy bar? wasn't that an episode of survivor? did we actually end up camping then, or did we just knock at death's door, run back down the hill and stay with some random friend of steph's?

i'm going to go look for that picture, now, of you and me and laura and amy where we looked so tough and cool and U2 like. sigh. good times.

You get Mother of the year, maybe the decade- oh, yes, one day you'll laugh and laugh.
The Indian Dance sound great as does the Kings Mtn. re-enactment.
Ben and Daniel are lucky boys.
